enjoy this feature for quite some time now, but it is finally coming

Nightly builds

We have set up a <a

Currently, it builds a Debian package, source tarball, and a Windows installer version. Interesting to note is that the Windows version is completely built on a GNU/Linux system, using a cross-compiler and Wine to create the final setup.exe.

Patents endangering Open Source Software development

Soon the European Commission is going to vote a revised version of
the European Patentability rules. The proposed revision contains a set of
serious challenges to Open Source development since regulation regarding software
patents will be broadly extended and might forbid independent development of
innovative (Open Source and not) software-based solutions.

Newsflash

It has been a bit too quiet on the Workrave front lately, so I thought it would be nice to inform you about what's cooking. Initially, we were planning on releasing version 1.4.0, with exercises being the most interesting new feature addition. However, a lot of time went into 3D modeling of 'Miss Workrave', who is supposed to instruct you on how to do your exercises. In fact, a lot of time is still going into that as I speak right now. Therefore, it is most likely that we'll release an intermediate 1.2.3 in the near future. You'll have to be a bit more patient for the exercises, but here's a sneak preview of how "Miss Workrave" is going to look...

Workrave 1.2.2 released

The Window version now has a native look and feel, so Workrave no
longer looks like a second grade application when running on
Windows. Furthermore,
support for Gnome session management was
improved: Workrave is now properly restarted by the Gnome session
manager. Finally, the overall user interface has improved, addressing
most HIG
issues.

The most important new features in this version are statistics and Gnome/KDE applet support. Workrave now keeps track of all your activity and allows you to browse through any date in history to see for how long you used the computer, how many keys you pressed, the distance your mouse moved, and many other statistical data. Furthermore, when running Workrave on Gnome or KDE, the break information can be displayed itself in the panel.

Workrave 0.3.0 released

Added sound support. For office PCs that do not have a sound card, you
can choose to play sounds through the internal PC speaker.
Also new,
but still experimental, is distribution support, dubbed "The Collective". You can now create a network of
Workrave instances running on several computers. All instances that
are part of the collective share the same timer information, meaning
that if one computer informs you to take a break, it is futile to flee
to another computer as it will also tell you to take a break.
Furthermore, some nasty crashes in the Windows version were fixed.
